About Blacksville
Blacksville is an unincorporated community in Henry County. This small community is home to a few hundred residents. It’s located just south of McDonough and about 25 miles south of Atlanta Georgia. It’s nestled along Highway 155 and is home to the Cotton Fields Golf Club, several shops, a few restaurants, and residential neighborhoods. Major highways go right through Blacksville or are closely connected such as Interstate 75, Highway 23, and several Georgia State Route highways. It got its start back in 1888 with a small post office through 1904. Today, it’s a small community just south of McDonough along Highway 155.
There are several smaller neighborhoods within Blacksville including Charleston Village and Green Valley Villages. These new homes and townhomes are affordably priced starting at just under $200,000. To the west of Highway 155 are a few independents neighborhoods with homes between about $150,000 and $280,000. There are also several lots and parcels of land currently for sale starting at about $40,000. Whether you’re building a new home or looking for a move-in ready new home development, there are several popping up around the Blacksville area.
Blacksville has undergone some interesting history over the years. Due to its name, around the turn-of-the-century is where most of the African-Americans lived. Today, this up-and-coming neighborhood is thriving with new home construction, new subdivisions, and developments all boasting newer homes, fantastic homebuilders, and a great location convenient to neighboring highways, commercial amenities, great schools, and parks. This is where it’s all happening just south of McDonough and it’s a great time to get in on the ground floor of these new subdivisions. Prices will continue to rise throughout this area.

Residents are part of the Henry County school district and students are assigned to the Oakland elementary school, the Henry County middle school, and the Henry County high school.
